Each summer at Landscape Workshop, we’re lucky enough to host a few of the landscaping industry rising stars in our annual internship program. During the two-month program, our interns quickly become integral members of our team and work alongside our crews in the field, as well as the administrative team in our back-office. Our goal for the program is to not only teach our interns the fundamentals of landscape maintenance, but to give them a better understanding of how to run a successful business. Why did you enter into this field of study?

My grandparents have a cattle farm, and I grew up spending a lot of time outside. I actually asked for a leaf blower when I was 3 years old and started a lawn care company in high school. I like that every day is something new and brings a different challenge.

Why did you decide to intern with LW?
It’s a great learning opportunity that allows for hands-on experience not found in a classroom. It’s also an opportunity to meet amazing people and explore different companies.

What did you enjoy the most about your internship?
The respect from both management and guys in the field and the responsibility they entrusted to me.

What did you learn from your internship with LW?
The importance of safety – it not only allows for a successful business, but also an enjoyable work atmosphere.

What would you tell other students considering an internship with LW?
Landscape Workshop is a great company to intern with. They have a great program that cycles you through each department. They also respect the interns a lot; they are always on top of the internship making sure we get the best experience possible.
