This week marks the official start of spring, and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome our favorite season. From the budding blooms to the warmer temps, spring is a magical time across the Southeast. And while we know you’re ready for the longer days and spring breaks, at Landscape Workshop, we want to know: is your property ready? Below, our resident floral expert, Leah Quarles, tells us the top 5 flowers every property needs this spring.

Vinca This pretty in pink plant isn’t as high maintenance as she looks. In fact, she thrives in the South’s humidity and heat. There are two types of vinca: trailing and upright. We prefer trailing vinca for our planters or as groundcover in our annual beds. The upright version works best as a filler for containers or as a medium-height plant in a bed.

Angelonia Spreading Series A Landscape Workshop favorite! Angelonia is not only beautiful but multi-functional, too. We think it works best as the finishing touch to any annual bed or a lovely filler in your spring containers. Its growth habit provides the highly sought-after combination of tall and wide, and it comes in a variety of colors to suit your fancies, including white, purple, blue, and pink.

Scaevola Blue Brighten up your landscape with this low-growing, succulent annual. This blue beauty loves full sun and is very drought tolerant once established. We suggest using it as a border to your annual beds or making a splash in your hanging baskets or containers.

Euphorbia White We love to fill our spring containers with these delicate, white flowers, but they also add a sweet touch to annual beds. Once established, these drought-tolerant blooms can grow to a mature height of 12 to 18 inches.

Begonia Whopper, Red or Pink Whether in full shade or sun, the begonia whopper requires minimal upkeep. This versatile and hearty plant works well as a stand-alone or as part of a grouping in an annual bed. We also recommend adding it as a bright pop of color in your containers.
